Forearm Strengthening

There are many ways for one to strengthen their forearm muscles, with most common exercises including dumbbell wrist flexion and extension curls and/or gripping based exercises.

In the video below you will see how we have used a 6 pound weight bar that is held off centre to use gravity and leverage to increase the loading through pronation and supination, therefore working to develop strength through these movements.  Often strengthening through pronation and supination is often forgotten from a strengthening point of view and I would argue that this is just as important as flexion and extension.  This is a great exercise that can be used for prehab or rehab.

When carrying out this exercise, you can start with a lighter weight or shorter loaded weight to reduce the leverage effect.  You can work to reps or time to create a training effect.
