Dynamic Quad Sit

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy perform a dynamic quad sit.  This is a great exercise for those wanting to work on loading their quadriceps without any equipment.  For those individuals with specific knee issues, please consult with your osteopath or physiotherapist before trying this.

The aim of this exercise is to maintain a straight line between the femur and torso throughout the entire movement.  As you can see in the video below, osteopath Heath Williams loses the tension and straight line through the femur and torso and therefore cheats in this movement.

This exercise can be regressed by shortening the active range of movement that one performs.  It can also be performed as a static training drill where the individual is required to hold a specific position for a set time.  This exercise can also be progressed by looking at changing the following variables:  external weight added, speed of movement, repetitions and sets.

If you would like to find out more about what exercises you can include in your everyday exercise program to focus on a specific goal or simply to focus on prehab or rehab from a specific musculoskeletal complaint, then be sure to touch base with us at our osteopathy clinic.
