Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift

The romanian deadlift is one of my favourite all time exercises for training the posterior chain.  It requires the individual to hip hinge (hip bend, minimal knee bend) and load up the hamstrings and gluteal muscles.  Traditionally the romanian deadlift lift is performed using a barbell.  In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating a dumbbell romanian deadlift.  This requires the individual to hold a dumbbell in each hand and balance the load across the frontal and transverse plane.   It also requires one to maintain appropriate control through the sagittal plane and to avoid any side bending or rotation through the trunk.  For those for a change in their training or for those looking to self check their technique etc, the dumbbell romanian deadlift is a great exercise to incorporate.
