Birddog Loaded Progression For The Hip

The birddog is one of my favourite go to assessment and exercise tools to identify how one can stabilise their spine and move through their hips and shoulder complex when in a relatively stable position (4 point kneel).  I will often prescribe this exercise for rehab and/or movement prep for clients.  In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing a loaded hip extension pattern to challenge the birddog.  One must control the leg with added resistance of the band as they perform this movement.
