Band Resisted Box Squat With Anterior Kettlebell Hold

In the video below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing a band resisted box squat with kettlebell hold.  This exercise has been prescribed as part of ones strength and conditioning program to develop strength and power through their lower body.  The box squat has been selected so to create a more hip dominant squat pattern (vertical shin position and bum back = more gluteal and hamstring loading).  The band has been added to the exercise to create an external stimulus to engage the hip abductors (gluteals) and some load has been added to increase effort.  The box height has been chosen where ones hip is slighly higher than their knee with the aim to lower this as they improve their technique.  As you can see in the video also, the client is asked to move with speed off the box and lock out at the top phase of the movement for a glute contraction.
