Band Assisted Push Ups

The powerband and microbands are probably one of my favourite training accessories because of the versatility of incorporating them into almost any exercise.  In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy incorporate the microbands from Ironedge into his push up routine.  By placing the microband around the elbows, the band becomes stretched and tensioned as you lower toward the ground and then recoils as you move away from the floor.  What this does to the push up is to provide you with some assistance as you move away from the floor.  It also encourages you to keep your elbows in tight by the side of the body.  This is a great training strategy for those wanting to work on improving their elbow position during the push up or for those needing a little assistance when pushing themselves away from the floor.
