Balance Work Using A Balance Beam

In the video below you will see Osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy prescribing his client some balance work using a beam.  Rather than just performing the standards stand on one leg and close your eyes, the balance beam changes the environment greatly and requires one to adapt to this.  This client was very capable of walking with eyes open, so I had them close their eyes to take away some of the visual feedback that the eyes provide.  Other variations we tried with this client was also moving the head to impact on the vestibular feedback system.  Next time we will also look to try walking backwards and moving across the balance beam side ways.  Watch out for some future videos on these.
