Balance Beam Training With Head Movements

In the video below you will see one of Osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy prescribing some balance beam walking with head movements to challenge ones balance whilst disrupting the vestibular system feedback.

This exercise has been prescribed as a series of different exercises to have the client work on their balance.  Other exercises such as single leg balance, single leg balance with drivers i.e. hand and foot movement can also be prescribed should you wish to look to help your client work on their balance and control.  Essentially, many balance exercises typically involve one standing on one leg where their centre of gravity is over their base of support.  Yet in our day to day life we are constantly moving our centre of gravity away from our balance of support and I feel that these types of strategies can have a better carry over to ones function.
