Are You Addressing Mobility Of The Big 3 Areas – Foot/Ankle, Hip, Thoracic Spine/Shoulder Girdle?

For all of you out there that are regularly exercising i.e. in the gym, running or playing sports.  If I was to encourage you to perform stretching and mobility of three areas of the body, it would always be the foot/ankle, hip, thoracic spine and shoulder girdle.  These regions of the body are all integral regions of the body that require adequate mobility.  When joints stiffen up and muscles tighten up around these areas, our body adapts and compensates to work around this and therefore places additional strain and load on other areas.  The lower back is a key example of this.  If the hip doesnt extend and the thoracic spine doesnt rotate and extend well, well guess what.  The lower back will work harder to provide this as the body works as a whole and is task orientated.  We dont think about what our body is doing or how it moves, it just focuses on the end goal i.e. whatever we are aiming to do i.e. pick things up off the floor etc.  Therefore, make sure you assess these regions and prepare the body appropriately for training in these regions.
